I stopped at Michael’s last night to return some extra skeins of Cotton-Ease and Bernat Cashmere Blends (leftover from Rusted Root and February Lady Sweater). While I was there I picked up four skeins of Patons Classic Wool in blue. I’m planning to use it for the Lush and Lacy Cardigan. I’ve never used Patons Classic Wool before, but it feels okay and hopefully it will turn out all right!
Right now I’m working on Emerald Seas, which I’m calling Silver Seas because my yarn is silver. I’m about halfway through the front piece. It’s DK yarn, but it’s knitting up pretty quickly. I bought a dark purple ribbon to use in the finished top, which I think will look nice against the silver. We’ll see!
My mom ordered Rowan 44 for me for my birthday, but it’s backordered. Grr! I can’t wait for it to come in though. I love most of the patterns I’ve seen in it and am eager to drool over the pages.
I finished up the February Lady Sweater last night and I love it.

This sweater knit up a lot faster than I expected. I did 21 repeats of the lace pattern for the body and 15 for the sleeves. It took right at 7 skeins for this sweater. I had a small bit of yarn left from the last skein I used on the body and had to use some of that to cast off my sleeves because I ran out right at the end and didn’t want to grab a whole new skein. This was my first time using the Bernat Cashmere Blend yarn and will most likely use it again. It feels really nice.
This is a great pattern and a great sweater, although I did get myself messed up in the lace a few times because I would get too interested in what I was watching on TV and not pay attention to what I was doing. But I managed to fix my mistakes easily and moved on. The end result is worth it.

I’m about halfway through knitting the February Lady Sweater I’m working on. It knits pretty fast and I have only a few more lace repeats to go on the body, then I can get started on the sleeves. I’ve tried it on already and I’m very happy with how it’s turning out. I can see why so many people are knitting this particular pattern.
I’m having to do a bit of sewing this week in addition to the knitting. Finally getting around to altering some clothes that have been in my closet for a few months and some I’ve just bought. Mostly, hemming things since I’m short and store bought clothes are often too long for me (while petite lengths are just slightly too short). So I’ve hemmed one pair of pants and also ripped out and resewed a hem on another pair that I had done last year but that I’d always felt I had hemmed just a little too short. Still need to hem another pair of pants, take in the width of the legs on a different pair, take in the waistband on a pair of capris, and hem the new skirt I bought this weekend. I also think I’m going to try to shorten a couple of T-shirts. While I like my shirts to be long, the current trend in long shirts is way too long for my short torso. My sewing machine has a double needle attachment for it, but I’ve never used it before. I’ll start with the shirt I like least and see what happens.
I’m really glad my mom taught me how to sew as a kid!

Pattern: Rusted Root
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in Lake (just under three skeins)

Pretty quick knit. My first time ever using Cotton-Ease. My local chain stores never had the old version before, but now Michael’s in the next city over has it. I like it okay, hurts my hands a little, but all cotton yarns do.
I lowered the neckline on this sweater, using the notes from goodkarma. I also added in hip increases a couple of inches after the waist decreases because my hips come back out quite a bit from my waist so I needed some extra room.
All in all, I’m happy with the finished product and I’m actually wearing this to work today!
Current WIP: February Lady Sweater.
So I’m back again. I had a knitblog here a few years ago, then closed it down. Things have changed a lot for me since that time, but I’m still knitting. Ravelry sparked my interest in keeping a weblog again. I love Ravelry for keeping up with my projects and finding new ones, but I started to feel like I wanted a place to share a little more. So here I am.
Here are my most recent FOs:

Right now, I’m working on Rusted Root in a light blue Cotton-Ease. I should finish that today–I have just the neckband left to do.
